I arrived in California in 1974. Having grown up in Milwaukee I attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Michigan State University. Receiving a BA and MA in French and a MEd equivalent in Education I taught French in Indiana and Baltimore. When I moved to California my love of art was rekindled and I attended the California College of the Arts graduating with a BFA in Painting in 1980. In 1986 I bought an acre in Yorkville in Anderson Valley with a 1/2 acre orchard. Working in my studios in Yorkville and Berkeley I use oil, collage, watercolor and acrylic as painting mediums. Because I am deeply attracted to light and color the orchard, with its trees, flowers and fruits, provides me with infinite possibilities for paintings.  Continuing my explorations of  light and color in the last few years I have begun to paint figures, using my family and friends as subject matter.  Although most of my figures are still in the orchard, they are slowly moving out into the world.
